Bear Paw Bonanza Trips 2011-2012

As a school principal, I have made it a priority to connect with students in ways that are memorable, meaningful and provide opportunities for learning.  The idea of having students spend special time with their principal is not new, but I didn't want this time to center around food or treats.  Instead, I decided to take them on an afternoon outing to an outdoor location where we could learn something together.  I consider these to be environments for life long learning.

White Rock Beach - Students enjoying bull kelp, beach logs and watching a Great Blue Heron.

Reptile Refuge Center - Students learned about proper care and concerns for exotic animals.

Serpentine Fen, Surrey - a unique environment where ocean tides ebb and flow into a rich, diverse and ecologically sensitive area.  Birds, fish and other aquatic life thrive in these areas.

Local Surrey Parks - Surrey Lake and Green Timbers Lake at two different times of the year.  We saw an eagle nest at Surrey Lake and people catching fish at Green Timbers Lake.  Love those ducks!
